As the one of famous traditional folk crafts in China, embroidery is an essential part of Chinese culture, and it has a great contribution to the progress of civilizations.

The traditional history of embroidery is centuries old and being famous to the world. The earliest form of Chinese embroidery mainly represents the status and being the subsidiary of politics. It is a popular craft for wealthy women and members of the court at that time. Later, the Chinese embroidery started to be spread as the living ornaments and decorations.

There are 4 main embroidery styles in China. They are representing the different regional culture of China, which are known as Suzhou embroidery, Xiang embroidery, Canton embroidery and Shu embroidery. All of these embroideries techniques have been named as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in China.
